MSFS: F6F Hellcat 1.0.1 & P-38 Lightning 1.1.1 Updates Are Now Available!

G'day folks,

Today, we have released version 1.0.1 for the F6F, which includes full CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) implementation, as well as some minor FM, system & art fixes. We have also changed the parking brake to be off by default, so keep that in mind next time you start up! Additionally, we released version 1.1.1 of the P-38L last week, which includes CFD implementation, ground handling improvements and more!

F6F Hellcat lined up

F6F Hellcat V1.0.1

Flight Model
- Implementation of full CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) including tuned CFD ground effect
- Improved Adverse Yaw
- Rudder, aileron and elevator fine-tuning
- Elevator trim authority increased a little
- Minor tweaks to various component drag factors
- Wing lift increase

Ground Handling
- Gear static compression lowered from 50% to 33%

Visual Model
- Fixed belly antenna, now points aft
- Fixed default pilot LOD issue
- Fixed Aileron Tab decal "Right Wing Down" for both directions
- Fixed ADI roll animation issue

Cockpit
- Spawn with canopy open...no longer animates to open but spawns instantly in the correct state
- Added percentage to the tooltip of Cowl and Oil shutter flaps
- Clock hands now operate on a military 24-hour time
- Reset clock adjustment offset when time is adjusted in MSFS Toolbar Weather app
- Fixed Oil Temp gauge incorrect reading
- Removed windshield camera collision to temporarily fix camera jitter bug
- Parking brake is no longer on by default (but can still be used via hotkey)

Engine and Propeller
- Cooling is more effective at altitude
- 5% less torque effect

Electrical Systems
- Fixed generator, now turns on from Cold and Dark above 1300RPM
- Accurate battery and generator curves
- Battery capacity lowered to 11Ah, which is correct for the Hellcat

Tablet
- Added Hobbs meter to the Live Data tab
- Tablet Live Data speeds were in mph, now corrected and displaying as knots

 P-38L Lightning V1.1.1

Flight Model
- Implementation of full CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) including tuned CFD ground effect
- Improved Adverse Yaw
- Rudder, aileron and elevator fine-tuning
- Tuned dive recovery flaps
- Tuned elevator trim

Ground Handling
- Free castering nosewheel steering, augmented with custom rudder/propwash code (steer with rudder/propwash, differential breaking and/or differential thrust)
- Suspension re-tuning (lower static compression)
- General ground handling fine-tuning
- Fixed tailstrike after pushback issue

Cockpit
- Ground roll and engine vibration animation for the Yoke, RPM needles and MP needles
- New yoke animation based on actual control surface deflections
- GPS on/off function using COM1 volume knob
- GPS dimmable using the Glareshield Instrument rheostat
- Modern pilot visibility during zoom fixed

Engine and Propeller
- Prop RPM at higher altitudes can reach much lower RPMs
- Fuel consumption tuned
- New Lean/Rich fuel consumption logic giving correct consumption at all configurations
- Carb icing now depends on cloud density
- Slightly increased thrust during take-off roll

Tablet
- Added Workshop tab
- Added Hobbs meters to the Live Data tab

Others
- Fixed MSFS Checklist highlight issues

i am convinced that your aircraft are very well done. I have your Spitfire and your Lightning. Yet I now have the feeling that your versions of these airplanes have not been modernised, and are therefore not really compatible with a realistic version of MSFS 2020. At this point, I CANNOT recommend these add-on programs concerning Öhringen. Put your money where your mouth is.

The attention to detail in those birds is just amazing. Easily one of the best planes in MSFS, and they are getting (much) better with every update. I’m not really a fan of military planes, but love those just because of how good they are simulated. The hand-flying-experience is superb after the CFD updates!

Bought the F6F yesterday, love it a lot. Only complaints I have are about sound, some feel a bit out of balance – too loud at times. The canopy opening/closing is incredibly loud and jarring, louder than the engine itself, and the sound coming off the plane doesn’t seem to be adhering to the laws of physics – there’s no doppler effect! I really hope the doppler effect gets added at some point with an update because I can live with the very loud canopy but cannot without the change in pitch as the plane darts around the drone cam I placed in front of it. Otherwise 10/10
